Memorandum of Understanding between IARC and Yenepoya University, Mangalore.

IARC Office is pleased to announce the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between the Indian Association of Respiratory Care and The Yenepoya University, Mangalore. This MOU has congruent scientific goals and a strong strive to establish a model Respiratory Therapy Program at an under-graduate and post-graduate level. The MOU also gives an opportunity to promote excellence in research on all aspects of Respiratory Therapy.
 

The MOU establishes the terms and understanding between the IARC and YAHCP to facilitate collaborative activities that are mutually beneficial for both. In particular, as outlined under the 5 General Objectives (listed below) and 12 Specific Objectives.

 
1. To foster close coordination in the fields of allied health and respiratory therapy education.
2. To explore and facilitate, where feasible, close co-operation in the identification, development, and implementation of their respective technical cooperation projects in the areas covered by this MoU.
3. To enhance information exchange, knowledge-sharing, resource assistance, faculty training, curriculum design with the objective to improve coordination and co-operation as applicable.
4. Staff professional development, Joint teaching, Research, Sharing, or establishing various educational materials and resources.
5. Jointly organize short-term continuing education programs, organize seminars, conferences, or workshops on topics of mutual interest, and invite each other's faculty to participate therein.

The agreement, in the form of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), formalizes the mutual interaction and strengthens the existing relationship between IARC and the YAHCP at the strategic and working level, focusing on the development of a National Standard for Respiratory Therapy Profession.

The interaction between IARC Standards and the YAHCP Framework and the proposed policies can be applied in the future practice for all the existing and upcoming RT educational and research institutions across the country.

In pursuit of this mission, our primary goals include:

  1. Foster the practice of Respiratory Therapy of high caliber, with compassion for the relief of suffering of those with a variety of respiratory ailments, within and outside the intensive care units.

  2. Promoting high quality formal training in institutions that have the necessary infrastructure.

  3. Facilitate continuing education by holding conferences, meetings, workshops etc. to hone the skills of the practicing Respiratory Therapists.

  4. Engage in advocacy for the promotion of the field of respiratory therapy within the medical fraternity, with the various governmental/statutory bodies and the public.

  5. Unite and enlist respiratory therapists of India as members of the association and solicit their support to achieve the objectives of the association.
